One Step at a Time

L'Arc de Triomphe 75008, original art, 5" x 7"
More on Paris' "incontournables"...
Those fabulous not-to-be-missed monuments of Paris!
I'm feeling like Paris "is my oyster" this trip...
Just one step out the door and there will be SO MUCH TO SEE! ! ! It won't be just cakes and cookies on this trip!
Rick's "Walking Man" turns up in the background in his wonderful cafe Le Select drawings...
I've got a new theme song.
It was blasting out of the all night fruit stand last Saturday night...
Have you heard Jordan Sparks ONE STEP AT A TIME?
I'll try to remember some of the lyrics when out and about walking all over Paris NEXT WEEK!!!

Hurry up and wait
So close, but so far away...
There's no need to rush
It's gonna happen and it's

Supposed to happen and we
Find the reasons why
One step at a time
BONJOUR ONE STEP AT A TIME!

Great job, Carol. You'll have to do the pyramid, and fountains and Tuilleries, and all those good things,...Sacre Coeur, Moulin Rouge...ooh la la. (Shoot--while you're at it, go through the Loire Valley and do all the chateaux, too!) You could do Mt St Michel,... Paris is great, but.....;D

I never noticed the "walking man" in Rick's drawings - I purchased his book in Paris in 2008 after I met him at Le Select - nice man and he didn't seem upset that I introduced myself and started talking to him. We had a nice visit and he autographed an advertising card of his book for me.
After reading your post this morning, I got my book out and sure enough, there are several of Rick's drawings that have the walking man in them - thanks for pointing that out to us.
Love your painting of the Arc - walking man and all.

I am so envious that you will soon be in Paris. My husband and I try to go every couple of years, but with the $ vs. the euro, it has been so expensive. Your L'Arc de Triomphe painting brought back memories of the trip where we decided to walk up into it. I never knew I did not do well in close places until I had a panic attack (YES!)and had to walk back down stepping around others in the tight stairwell. Oh, well, it makes for a great Paris story. In one post, you asked about a favorite bistro. One of ours is the Cafe' Bosquet near our hotel, the Relais Bosquet (all near Rue Cler, where we always stay. Another is the LaTerrasio in the same neighborhood where we had afternoon wine and olives almost every day on our last trip. After the first visit, when they saw us walk up, they brought "our usual" to the table. We truly felt like it was "our" neighborhood. Our favorite restaurant in Paris is Le Maupertu at 94,Bd. de la Tour Maubourg just across the street from the Invalides - incredible view, great view, and warm service. I am so envious of your upcoming trip!

Like the song. Remember when you were 16 and 21 was so far away.

I noticed the walking man immediately since it's so different from your stuff.
Nice idea to stick him in there.

There's a guy in our hood , about 6'5", long and skinny with a huge step like Rick's guy. Now I have a name for him.

I can't wait until you get back from your trip. When will be you be returning?
I'd love to see images of the Eiffel Tower, Metro signs, Rue de Cler, the Moulin Rouge.
It might sound macabre, but my husband and I were really impressed with the statuaries in the famous Parisian Cemeteries like the Père Lachaise Cemetery.
